    Winter may be officially over in BC, but that doesn’t mean you need to pack up your skis and snowboards just yet. I was recently up at Grouse Mountain, and those are some impressive spring conditions! The snowfall has been so good that many of the hills in the province are reporting that they expect to have enough of the white stuff to stay open into May. With ski conditions lasting longer than last year on both sides of the border, the Americans have introduced a new measure at the end of the ski season that would hand down some of the harshest penalties on the continent to out-of-bound skiers and boarders: Washington State will soon make going out of bounds a misdemeanor.     Those of you over 30 will remember a comedy duo named Cheech and Chong. If you don’t know who I’m talking about, here’s a quick description: Two guys (Tommy Chong and Richard “Cheech” Marin) known for making people laugh at the expense of their harebrained decisions influenced by their excessive use of illicit drugs, particularly marijuana. Let’s just say that as a teenager in the late 80s, I thought they were funny. It’s been thirty-three years since the release of their movies like Up In Smoke, and the content of their material hasn’t aged well. I really doubt I could watch a whole Cheech and Chong film anymore. Heck, watching the trailer from start to finish took some concerted effort. Maybe it’s because I’m a father now or that I’ve seen and read research on distracted driving, but it’s hard for me to laugh anymore at two dudes smoking excessive amounts of weed while driving (the main gag of the aforementioned film).
