We thought it was about time that we talk about the latest fad that’s taken over the streets of British Columbia: e-scooters.

They’re a great way for folks to get around without a car. They’re good for the planet. And hey, no parking costs.

But when we hear about people riding without a helmet, going over the allowed speed limit, and zooming on sidewalks—really? That’s so cringe.

We recently saw a campaign by our colleagues at the Transport Accident Commission in Victoria, Australia saying that e-scooters are not a toy. And while the campaign from our friends Down Under looks a little familiar (what do they say about imitation and flattery?), they are absolutely right.

Because if you think e-scooters are merely toys, well, you’re lying. And when you lie to yourself, that can get you into trouble.
