    This week I’m heading back to school along with thousands of kids and adults all around the province. This means groups of people wandering the streets, more focused on what brand of Disney backpack their friends are sporting than who’s cruising along the street they’re crossing or walking besides. And that’s just the mature students.

    So keep an eye out over the next few weeks as throngs of students start appearing in places that have been deserted over the past few months. And slow down, give them a wide berth and make sure this is a safe and happy back to school season.

    Police issue back-to-school reminder to drivers

    Anticipating return to school this coming week, children may be more focused on renewing friendships and encountering a new year of scholastics rather than on traffic signs and vehicle traffic on their way to and from school each day.

    The Delta Police would like to remind motorists in advance of schools returning to session that there will be many young people walking and cycling to school and ask that all drivers be cautious when driving through residential and school zones at all times but to be particularly aware in the coming days and weeks

    Yes, it’s that time again – school will be back in session on Tuesday.

    You know what that means… Tuesday morning will not only be a nightmare in your homes, but also on our streets!

    • more drivers, more vehicles
    • more parents, more teachers
    • more children walking, cycling, scooting in groups

    What will you do on Tuesday morning to ensure that you and no one else around you gets injured?

     

    In the last week, there have been several instances of people being killed or seriously injured in motor vehicle collisions because they were not wearing their seatbelts.

     This has been a law for many years (about 30). Shouldn’t this be common practice? Why are people being so stupid? A seatbelt is a quick and easy way to reduce the risk of serious injury or death.
