This week I’m heading back to school along with thousands of kids and adults all around the province. This means groups of people wandering the streets, more focused on what brand of Disney backpack their friends are sporting than who’s cruising along the street they’re crossing or walking besides. And that’s just the mature students.
So keep an eye out over the next few weeks as throngs of students start appearing in places that have been deserted over the past few months. And slow down, give them a wide berth and make sure this is a safe and happy back to school season.
Police issue back-to-school reminder to drivers
Anticipating return to school this coming week, children may be more focused on renewing friendships and encountering a new year of scholastics rather than on traffic signs and vehicle traffic on their way to and from school each day.
The Delta Police would like to remind motorists in advance of schools returning to session that there will be many young people walking and cycling to school and ask that all drivers be cautious when driving through residential and school zones at all times but to be particularly aware in the coming days and weeks
