    We’ve got a new style of TV spot that’s different than the others we’ve been airing of late. The above video was made with our partner BC Hydro. They’re simple, direct and short.

    This particular spot is about preventable injuries in the water. Mark Poweska of BC Hydro knows well that beautiful B.C. weekend getaway spots like Buntzen Lake Reservoir (a hydroelectric power producer) can be dangerous if people don’t take heed of warning signs and safety around the water.

    Preventable Beach Towel

    If you’ve been reading this blog for a while or are a B.C. beach bum, you might be familiar with our summer drowning prevention campaign. This year, we’re tweaking what we usually do in order to get people thinking more about their attitudes when it comes to drowning. As in previous years, we’ll be leaving branded flip-flops and beach bags on beaches across B.C., but this time around, we have a new slogan emblazoned on the beach towels we leave behind as a reminder that some people might not be able to reclaim their beach goods if they don’t take precautions in and around the water. This year, our sought-after towels will read, “Before you think only other swimmers drown, have a word with yourself.” Continue Reading…

    Which one of these things is not like the other? This holiday season, many of us do things we don’t often do, and this can sometimes spell disaster. This may include hauling out the old ladder and ascending rooftops and trees to string holiday lights that make everything look more festive. Unfortunately, such a joy giving action results in British Columbians injuring themselves every year.
