Preventable injuries only happen to other people

In 2008, there were over 128,000 workplace injuries in B.C.

Preventable injuries can occur in an office as easily as they can on a construction site. It’s the employer’s responsibility to ensure a safe workplace. But it’s important that you too be mindful of your safety and the safety of others. If you don’t know, ask. If you don’t feel safe, speak up. Support others when they’re unsure. Above all, safety is a state of mind.

    Helpful Resources

Many workplaces reward efficiency. For many workers, the pressure is on. But, taking even a small risk to save time is not worth a lifetime of consequence. So think carefully and stick up for your right to a safe workplace, as well as for the rights of those around you. Remember that you have the right to refuse unsafe work.
